The school is located in an interesting old building in the centre of artistic Plovdiv, at the foot of the Old town. It has classrooms for general education, computer room, studios for drawing and painting, sculpture studio, studio for props and theatrical painting, studio for stage lighting. There is a good and specialized library.

It was established in 1975 in Plovdiv as an Art school of stage design. The school is the only one of its type in Bulgaria and on the Balkans. It has all necessary equipment for the education and training process.
The teachers in the school are distinguished artists in all fields of fine and applied arts – scenography, painting, prints, sculpture, ceramics; make-up and wigs artists; teachers of dramatic art.

The graduates of National High School Of Stage And Film Design receive profound secondary education and an excellent professional training. In the process of education and training the students have the opportunity to work in a professional environment in theatres, in the cinema and television, where they are carrying out their practice.
In recent years the students have participated in the realization of substantial projects as: the scenery of Kosturitsa’s film “Underground”; many opera and theatre performances in Plovdiv, Varna, Stara Zagora, Sofia etc.
